#31 Re: MFi Controllers » CTRLi controller connects to phone but not game » Jul 02 11:40 AM
Hey,
Which game are you trying to connect to? If the controller pairs with the iPhone, it SHOULD work, but some games occasionally require an extra step.
#32 Re: MFi Controllers » Nimbus and Nyko Clip » Jun 09 3:18 PM
I don't think I've ever remembered to turn any of my MFi controllers off - don't worry about it, they'll go to sleep 😜
#33 Re: MFi Controllers » Nimbus and Nyko Clip » Jun 08 4:24 PM
Looking very nice!!
That's probably the best controller you can get for iPhone, right there. I'm going to have to mod mine further 😉
#34 Re: MFi Controllers » Is it not possible to map MFi controllers to on-screen inputs? » Jun 07 2:38 PM
Yeah, unfortunately, there's no way to manually map controllers to the touch screen. I could see Apple not wanting to add such a user-unfriendly feature, but at least they could bury it in Accessibility settings somewhere. Maybe someday...
#35 Re: MFi Controllers » I have the iPad 2 and I do not want to upgrade, there is some controll » Jun 02 9:13 AM
Hey,
Sorry, as of this time, there is no way to use an MFi controller with an unsupported device, even WITH a jailbreak.
Any newer iPad will work perfectly, though.

Hey,
First off, welcome to the site, and thanks for providing your thoughts!
At the time the Speedy was released (and when I reviewed it), it was just as responsive as everything else - perhaps more responsive than the older SteelSeries controllers, actually.
Since then, Apple actually changed the MFi controller specifications. New controllers are allowed to use Bluetooth 4, instead of being stuck with Bluetooth 2. This means they're more responsive, more efficient, and have better battery life.
In my opinion, the Speedy is responsive enough for most players. But the Nimbus and Horipad Ultimate are definitely more responsive. If that's something you notice, definitely get one of the newer controllers.
Thanks for the welcome and answer.
That's quite interesting! I wasn't aware of that at all.
I'm somewhat picky when it comes to input latency, so I might be a bit demanding in that compartment.-H
If you're picky with latency, you should probably go for the Horipad Ultimate. It has slightly lower latency than the Nimbus, and some of the smallest dead zones I've ever seen on it's analog sticks. The Nimbus is also excellent, though. And both are far better than the Speedy (and all other older controllers!)

That would be awesome! And helpful, since it would give me something to look at when adding the info to the database. I'll link to this thread, and try to get others to participate
#38 Re: iOS Games » Controls » May 26 8:56 AM
Soon... Everything control-related needs to be tracked by hand. It's a massive pain in the ass, actually!
For major games, at least, I'll start displaying controls in the near future. I'm in the process of coding a major update for the site, which will lay the groundwork for new features like that!

Whoops, I guess I should've done more research. Do you know if any of the controllers on your link work with emulators? Either way I'll get to returning this one and buying one of the ones you mentioned. Thanks for the reply.
They all work with Provenance, RetroArch (after configuring it in settings), PPSSPP, and GBA4iOS - not sure about other emulators!
#41 Re: MFi Controllers » iPad Pro (Tomb Raider) Controller » May 24 1:10 PM
Hey,
Unfortunately, the controller you mentioned is NOT an MFi controller. It's "iOS compatible" in the sense that it connects to your iPhone, but it works by emulating a keyboard, using an old third-party hacked standard called iCade. iCade predates the MFi controller program, and once Apple added official controller APIs, it was quickly abandoned.
You'll need to get one of the MFi controllers listed on this page:
https://afterpad.com/mficontrollers
These are the only controllers that work with the MFi standard, and thus with modern iOS games.
#42 Re: MFi Controllers » C.T.R.L.i VS pxn speedy » May 24 12:27 PM
Happy to help 😊
No, none of the MFi controllers include a charger. Heck, the new Lightning-powered controllers don't even include a Lightning cable!
Everything charges just fine using any of Apple's USB wall chargers, though.
#43 Re: MFi Controllers » C.T.R.L.i VS pxn speedy » May 24 8:30 AM
Between those two, I'd say grab the Speedy. It's about the same as the CTRLi, but with a much better d-pad.
One other option you might want to consider: the SteelSeries Nimbus with a third-party grip from Nyko. Works great:

#44 Re: MFi Controllers » Which mfi gamepad best for android ? » May 22 2:03 PM
Hah, I wouldn't think MOGA would make the best of anything 😜
Can't Android phones use PlayStation 4 controllers? I don't know, I don't have an Android device, but those are damn good controllers.
One thing I will say: do NOT get the Android version of the C.T.R.L.i, the C.T.R.L.r. I didn't think it was possible for Mad Catz to make a worse d-pad than the one on the CTRLi, but somehow the Android version has one.

On iPhone or Apple TV? It seems to only support MFi controllers on Apple TV.
