I’m thinking about getting a taper fade haircut but have a few questions before I go for it. First, how low should I ask the barber to start the fade—around the ears, mid, or higher up? Also, I want to keep some length on top, so how do I make sure the transition looks smooth?

Lastly, how often should I go back for a touch-up to keep it looking sharp? I’m new to this style, so any tips or advice would be awesome! Feel free to share your experiences or photos for inspiration.
