Looking for all-metal cover that supports crossbars

I’ve been using a soft cover for a while but now I’m getting into trail gear — rooftop boxes, jacks, traction boards — and need something that locks, supports crossbars, and won’t crack if I strap gear on top. I’m done with plastic and need something with real structure. What should I be looking at?

I switched to the RetraxPRO XR last year for the exact same reason. It’s built from heavy-duty aluminum slats that support serious weight — I’ve strapped a rooftop tent and a recovery shovel directly on top with zero issues. The Trax Rail System is built into the design and works with Yakima and Thule crossbars, so I didn’t need to modify anything. I like that it locks in any position and still allows full bed access without removing gear. The cover has handled heavy rain, mud, and even snow on a trip to Colorado — no leaks, no sag. Sliding action is smooth and it doesn’t rattle at all on rough roads. I installed it with a buddy in just under 2 hours, and it’s been solid ever since. Here’s the page I used when I ordered: https://retrax.us.com/retraxpro-xr-tonneau-cover.html — specs, videos, and compatibility info are all there. If you’re going full utility, this one’s built for it.
